Chapter 11

Hunter

London sucked ass.

Hunter knew a lot of people loved it, and even he saw the appeal in the fast life there, but for him? Not even close to his spot in Halton Heights.

That wasn't the only reason he was eager to get home after his trip to London.

The business side of the trip had been over quickly, but then Hunter had been forced to catch up with all his father's friends while they were there. Over and over, he'd heard, “Found yourself a good woman yet?”

He could tell that some of them were beginning to suspect.

He'd been planning to talk to his father on the plane trip back from London, but the right moment never came up. His father was discussing the practical merits of buying out the business, who he would hire to take over each aspect of the transition and turnaround, how much it was worth, the risk factors...

When they weren't talking business, his father was determined to tell him about his planned trip to the tropics, and he kept describing how many beautiful women there were at his favorite resort, all of whom would be just right for Hunter... how many of them would make excellent mothers.

Hunter never felt like crushing his father's dreams.

All in all, he felt guilty for being so deeply glad when they landed and his mother boarded the plane to fly onwards with his father after refueling while he got off to head back home.

He barely stopped to drop off his bags before heading down the staircase and around the corner, walking along the road to the construction site.

There was already a clearer path for a driveway, and a few solar light stakes had been poked into the ground to lead the way to the house site.

Hunter's jaw dropped.

It was a proper house foundation, more or less. Made of gravel, but a foundation. There was even a door frame!

“Holy shit.”

“Not bad, huh?” Logan asked, beaming as he strolled up from behind the tarp-covered straw bales, startling Hunter for a moment. Oh, but he was as beautiful as always. Hunter hadn't realized how much he'd missed the sight of Logan, a little sweaty, with his shirt open and muscles rippling...

“Really good,” Hunter answered to distract himself, glancing around. “Jesus, you've practically already built it. How did you get the foundation in so fast?”

“Let's just say it's not your mansion's foundation,” Logan teased, tossing aside a hammer he'd been holding.

“It's... good.” Hunter finally tore his eyes off the house to look at Logan again. He wasn't sure which he was more impressed by... but he couldn't hug the house.

He strode towards Logan, grabbing his hips to kiss him deeply.

Logan melted under his hands, leaning into him with those beautiful pliable lips working against his own. Fuck, he'd missed pulling the beautiful younger man in against him.

And mmm, those lips.

Hunter let Logan breathe again, drawing back just a few inches to admire his blond lashes and pink lips. Logan's arms were around his neck, Logan's thumb stroking the fine hairs at the back of his neck.
